Cool Water Pools and Spas uses only the highest quality materials and equipment in our projects. There are less costly ways of building a pool but our reputation depends on quality. The “steel cage” in the shell of the pool may be the most important aspect of the entire project. You can see in these photos that we do not skimp on steel. Although gunite is very strong, much stronger than the concrete in your driveway, it has very little flexibility. Properly placed steel provides the extra strength needed to reinforce the shell against the forces pushing against it. Notice we said properly placed steel. Without proper placement, all the steel in the world will not stop a pool shell from cracking.

We also do not use wire mesh in our concrete decking. Again, steel provides additional strength to decrease the chances of cracking in your pool deck.

One of the biggest problems in pool construction is one that most people don’t notice until long after the pool is complete and the builder is long gone. The problem is that most pools do not have sufficient circulation systems to clean the pool properly. In most cases, the pump is too small, the plumbing is not sufficient, and the number of skimmers and returns is insufficient. There are some very basic calculations to determine the proper size of the pump, filter, and pipe in a circulation system. Unfortunately these calculations are often overlooked because they call for larger pipe. That cuts into profit. In most cases pool companies are not charging less for these inferior systems, they are just taking advantage of you not knowing the difference. You find out the difference when you have to spend more time and more money on chemicals to maintain the pool.
